Description

Triethanolamine oleate (CAS 2717-15-9) is an anionic surfactant formed by the neutralisation of oleic acid with triethanolamine. It is also known by trade names including Lavon, Trietol, and TEA-Oleate, and functions as both an emulsifier and a mild soap-type surfactant. It carries no assigned E-code.

In metalworking fluids, it stabilises oil-in-water emulsions by reducing interfacial tension between cutting oils and water, improving lubricity and tool life. In textile and leather processing, it acts as a scouring and softening agent, helping to remove oils and fats from fibres while conditioning the substrate surface.

Triethanolamine oleate is supplied as a solid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Economic Area. Procurement teams should confirm grade specifications and purity certificates with the supplier, as product quality can vary between manufacturers. Standard industrial packaging formats apply.
