Description
Triisopropanolamine (TIPA, CAS 122-20-3) is a tertiary alkanolamine produced by reacting propylene oxide with ammonia. It is also known under trade names such as AMIX TI and by the synonym Nitrilotripropanol. No E-code applies to this substance.
In cement and concrete coatings, TIPA functions as a grinding aid and strength enhancer by chelating calcium ions and regulating paste pH during hydration. In textile and leather processing, it acts as a crosslinker for polymer binders, forming covalent bonds that improve wet fastness and film durability. Personal care formulators use it as a pH buffer and neutralising agent for anionic polymers.
TIPA is supplied as a crystalline low-melting solid and is available in technical grade. The substance is registered under REACH and must be handled in accordance with applicable EU CLP classification requirements. Standard packaging formats include drums and IBCs; contact our team for current lot availability and documentation.
