Trioctyl trimellitate

Trioctyl trimellitate (TOTM) is a trimellitate-based plasticizer commercially available under trade names including PX 338, Vinycizer W 700, and Trimellitate N 08. It belongs to the trimellitate ester family and is used as a primary plasticizer in demanding polymer applications where standard phthalates are insufficient.

In PVC wire and cable insulation, TOTM reduces polymer chain mobility at elevated temperatures, maintaining flexibility and dimensional stability up to 105°C. It is also used in automotive interior components and aerospace seating materials where low volatility and resistance to extraction by oils and fluids are required by specification.

TOTM is supplied in industrial drum and IBC formats and is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU market supply. Procurement teams should confirm whether the grade supplied meets relevant low-volatility or electrical-grade specifications, as performance criteria vary between cable, automotive, and aerospace end-use standards.
