Description
Tris(2-methoxyethoxy)vinylsilane (CAS 1067-53-4) is an organosilane coupling agent sold under trade names including Silane A-172, GF 58, NUCA 172, and KBC 1003. It carries EC number 213-934-0 and no assigned E-code. The molecule combines a reactive vinyl group with three hydrolysable methoxyethoxy groups on a silicon centre.
In glass fibre-reinforced plastics, it bonds inorganic mineral surfaces to organic polymer matrices by forming covalent siloxane linkages at the substrate while the vinyl group co-reacts with the resin. In rubber compounding and tire manufacturing, it improves filler-to-elastomer adhesion under dynamic stress. It also functions as a crosslinker and wetting agent in printing inks and adhesive formulations.
