Description

Zinc acetylacetonate (CAS 14024-63-6, also known as zinc bis(acetylacetone) or zinc 2,4-pentanedionate) is a zinc-based metal complex formed from zinc and acetylacetone ligands. It carries no assigned E-code and is identified under EC 237-860-3. The compound is commercially abbreviated as Zn(acac)2.

In coatings and polymer systems, Zn(acac)2 functions as a crosslinking catalyst by coordinating with hydroxyl or carboxyl groups, accelerating cure at moderate temperatures. In personal care formulations, it acts as a skin-conditioning agent through controlled zinc ion release. It also serves as a catalyst precursor in thin-film deposition processes.

Zinc acetylacetonate is supplied as a powder grade suitable for industrial formulation. It falls under REACH registration requirements for EU supply and must be handled in accordance with applicable SDS documentation. Packaging is typically available in kilogram quantities, with bulk options subject to supplier confirmation.
