Description

Zinc myristate (CAS 16260-27-8) is a zinc salt of myristic acid, also known as zinc tetradecanoate or zinc dimyristate. It is sold under trade names including Grillocin P 176 and Powder Base M. No E-code applies to this substance.

In cosmetic and personal care formulations, zinc myristate functions as a dry lubricant and slip agent in pressed powders and foundations, reducing friction between particles to improve spreadability on skin. In polymer processing, it acts as an internal lubricant and mold release agent, lowering interfacial adhesion between polymer melts and metal surfaces during extrusion or injection molding.

Zinc myristate is available as a white to off-white solid powder and is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU supply. Pharmaceutical-grade material may be evaluated against relevant Ph.Eur. excipient standards. Suppliers typically offer packaging in multi-kilogram bags or fiber drums suited to industrial procurement volumes.
