Pigment yellow 138
Description
Pigment Yellow 138 (CAS 30125-47-4), also known as Quinophthalone Yellow, is a high-performance organic pigment derived from the quinophthalone chemical class. It delivers strong, greenish-yellow coloration with excellent lightfastness and heat stability.
This pigment is a preferred choice for demanding industrial coloring applications across coatings, plastics, and printing. In industrial and automotive coatings, it provides a bright, durable yellow shade that resists fading under prolonged UV exposure.
Plastics processors incorporate it into polyolefins and engineering polymers where high processing temperatures would degrade conventional yellow pigments. Printing ink formulators use it in packaging inks, particularly solvent-based and UV-curable systems.
Color consistency and substrate adhesion are critical factors in these applications. Textile and leather finishes also utilize this pigment in surface coatings where sharp hue and wash resistance are required for the final product.
The material is supplied as a dry powder, typically in fine-milled form suited for dispersion into liquid systems or dry blending with polymer matrices. It is available in standard commercial grades aligned with colorant industry specifications.
Some suppliers offer pre-dispersed masterbatch or flush paste formats for direct ink and coating production. Packaging is commonly offered in fiber drums or multi-wall bags for bulk procurement to meet industrial manufacturing needs.
