PEG-20 methyl glucose distearate
Description
PEG-20 methyl glucose distearate (CAS 119831-19-5), also known as Methyl gluceth-20 distearate and commercially as Glucam E-20 Distearate, is a non-ionic, ethoxylated sugar-based emulsifier derived from glucose.
It stabilizes oil-in-water emulsions while simultaneously providing humectancy, making it a dual-function ingredient for leave-on and rinse-off formulations. In skin care, it anchors emulsion stability in lotions and creams.
By drawing moisture to the skin surface, it reduces the need for additional humectants in a formulation. Hair care manufacturers use it in conditioning treatments and detangling creams to improve spreadability.
It helps distribute actives evenly through the hair shaft. In mild cleansing systems, it contributes to foam texture and skin feel without disrupting the balance of surfactant blends during the manufacturing process.
Formulators in home care and industrial cleaning also use it to stabilize emulsified cleaning concentrates where consistent droplet dispersion is critical for the performance of the final chemical product.
PEG-20 methyl glucose distearate is typically supplied as a waxy solid or paste, depending on temperature and processing conditions. Standard supply grades include cosmetic-grade material for personal care.
This material meets general industry purity expectations for high-end applications. It is commonly available in drum and bulk quantities suited to industrial formulation volumes and large-scale chemical production.
