Glycol distearate

Glycol distearate (CAS 627-83-8), also known as EGDS or ethylene glycol distearate, is a waxy ester.

Where is Glycol distearate used?

• Personal care: opacifier, pearlizing agent and rheology modifier in aqueous and emulsion-based systems
• Shampoos, conditioners and body washes: pearlescent appearance and viscosity adjustment
• Textile and fiber processing: lubricant and surface modifier that reduces friction during yarn manufacturing and fabric finishing
• Coatings and emulsions: co-emulsifier and consistency factor that stabilizes formulations and controls flow
• Adhesive and sealant manufacture: modifies surface wetting and improves substrate compatibility in wax-based or fatty acid systems
