Description

Prussian blue (CAS 14038-43-8), also sold as Pigment Blue 27 and Parisian blue, is a deep-blue synthetic iron complex used as a high-performance inorganic pigment across industrial and specialty applications. Its intense, stable hue and resistance to fading under light exposure make it a preferred colorant where durability and consistency are procurement priorities for chemical buyers and manufacturers.

In textile dyeing and leather finishing, it delivers rich blue shades with strong substrate adhesion, particularly in batch and continuous dyeing processes used in large-scale textile production. Printing inks and packaging coatings rely on this pigment for its high tinting strength, allowing formulators to achieve deep color saturation at lower pigment loadings for cost-effective manufacturing.

In paper manufacturing, it is used to produce blue-toned specialty papers and to correct color balance in white paper grades, ensuring high-quality visual standards for premium paper products. Personal care and cosmetic formulators incorporate it into products such as eyeshadows and mascaras where a stable, non-bleeding blue colorant is required for long-lasting wear and safety.

Prussian blue insoluble is supplied as a dry powder, typically in fine particle grades suited to dispersion in aqueous and solvent-based systems for diverse industrial coating applications. Standard commercial grades include technical and cosmetic-grade specifications, with cosmetic-grade material meeting purity requirements for use in regulated personal care markets globally.
