Sodium lauriminodipropionate
Description
Sodium lauriminodipropionate (CAS 14960-06-6), commercially available as Deriphat 106C and Tensan VS, is an amphoteric amino acid-based surfactant derived from lauric acid.
It functions across personal care and industrial applications as a mild cleansing, wetting, and dispersing agent with broad pH compatibility. In personal care formulations, it acts as a secondary surfactant.
It is used in shampoos, facial cleansers, and body washes, improving foam quality while reducing the harshness of primary surfactant systems. Industrial cleaning and degreasing compounds use it to enhance wetting.
The chemical improves soil removal on metal and hard surfaces. In water treatment, it supports dispersion of particulates and modification of surface charge to improve overall process efficiency.
Formulators also incorporate it into emulsion systems where stable dispersion across varying pH conditions is a technical requirement. It is typically supplied as an aqueous solution for ease of use.
Active content concentrations are commonly in the 30–40% range. Both personal care-grade and technical-grade material are available to meet different application and purity requirements for global manufacturers.
Buyers should confirm active content, pH specification, and color standards with suppliers when evaluating lots for sensitive formulation work. This ensures consistency across different production batches.
