Description

N-(2-Aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (CAS 1760-24-3), commercially known as DAMO, is a bifunctional aminosilane coupling agent carrying both a trimethoxysilyl group and a diamine functionality. It bridges organic polymer matrices and inorganic substrates, improving adhesion, crosslink density, and surface compatibility across demanding industrial applications. In adhesives, sealants, and epoxy systems, it acts as a curing agent.

DAMO serves as a coupling promoter, strengthening bonds between polymer resins and glass, metal, or mineral fillers. The electronics industry uses it as a surface primer for printed circuit boards and encapsulants. Reliable adhesion under thermal cycling is critical in these applications. In coatings and composite manufacturing, it modifies fiber and filler surfaces to improve wet-out and mechanical performance of plastics.

Glass fiber-reinforced plastics benefit significantly from this modification. Automotive sealants and structural adhesives rely on DAMO to maintain bond integrity at substrate interfaces exposed to moisture and temperature extremes. DAMO is supplied as a clear to slightly yellow liquid. Standard commercial grades are available at ≥97% purity for industrial and technical use, ensuring consistent performance across various manufacturing processes.

Some suppliers offer higher-purity specifications for electronics and specialty coating applications. Packaging ranges from small drums to IBC containers to suit both development-scale and bulk procurement needs.
