Pigment yellow 83
Description
Pigment Yellow 83 (CAS 5567-15-7), also known as PY83 and Permanent Yellow HR Extra, is a high-performance diarylide yellow pigment used across coatings, plastics, and printing applications.
It delivers a strong reddish-yellow hue with good lightfastness and heat stability, making it a preferred choice for demanding color-critical processes in various industrial sectors.
In industrial and decorative coatings, PY83 produces clean, opaque yellow finishes with reliable color consistency across batch production. Printing ink manufacturers rely on it for offset formulations.
Flexographic and gravure formulations benefit where high tinctorial strength reduces pigment loading without sacrificing color depth. In plastics compounding, it is used to color polyolefins and PVC.
Engineering polymers where processing temperatures require stable pigment performance also utilize this material. Textile and leather finishing operations use it in pigment printing pastes and coatings.
These applications achieve bright, durable yellow shades on fabric and hide substrates. The pigment is supplied as a dry powder, with press cake forms available for wet-process ink applications.
Standard grades are differentiated by particle size, surface treatment, and vehicle compatibility. This includes grades optimized for solvent-borne, water-borne, and UV-curable systems for manufacturers.
CI 21108 is the recognized Colour Index designation used in technical specifications and procurement documentation. It meets rigorous industry requirements for consistency and chemical stability.
