1-decanol
Description
1-Decanol (CAS 112-30-1), also supplied under the trade names Royaltac, Royaltac-85, and Royaltac M-2, is a medium-chain fatty alcohol used across flavor, cosmetic, and industrial surfactant applications. It functions as an emulsifier, wetting agent, and fragrance intermediate, bridging food-grade and technical-grade supply chains. In flavor and fragrance manufacturing, it is a FEMA 2365-listed ingredient.
This compound is used to impart fatty, waxy, and citrus-peel notes in food and beverage formulations. Personal care formulators incorporate it as an emollient and co-emulsifier in creams, lotions, and hair care products. In these applications, it supports texture and phase stability. In printing and packaging, it acts as a surface modifier and wetting agent in ink formulations and release coating systems for various industrial uses.
It also serves as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of surfactants, plasticizers, and lubricant additives. 1-Decanol is supplied as a colorless to pale liquid, typically in drum and IBC quantities. Food-grade material is available to FCC specification, supporting flavor and food-contact applications. Technical-grade material is also offered for industrial and surfactant manufacturing use.
