1-heptanol
Description
1-Heptanol (CAS 111-70-6), also known as heptyl alcohol, is a medium-chain fatty alcohol used as a chemical intermediate, solvent, and fragrance ingredient across industrial and consumer product manufacturing.
With FEMA number 2548, it is recognized in flavor and fragrance applications under that designation by formulators and buyers in those sectors. In coatings and adhesives, it functions as a reactive diluent.
It acts as a crosslinking co-agent, improving flow and cure characteristics in resin systems. Personal care formulators incorporate it as an emollient and emulsifier component in skin and hair products.
This material is ideal where a light, non-greasy carrier is required. Flavor and fragrance houses use it to contribute green, citrus-like top notes in fine fragrance compositions and food-grade flavoring systems.
In plastics processing, it serves as a plasticizer intermediate and stabilizer component during polymer compounding. 1-Heptanol is supplied as a clear liquid in standard bulk packaging including drums and IBCs.
Larger volume isotank shipments are available for industrial buyers. Technical grade is the most common supply form for industrial applications, while fragrance and flavor applications typically require higher-purity specifications.
These applications often require material meeting FCC or equivalent standards. Buyers should confirm purity levels and odor profile specifications directly with suppliers when sourcing for flavor or cosmetic end uses.
