Isodecanol

Isodecanol (CAS 25339-17-7), also marketed as Exxal 10 and known as isodecyl alcohol, is a branched-chain fatty alcohol used as a solvent and plasticizer intermediate.

Where is Isodecanol used?

• Plastics: raw material for isodecyl phthalate and other ester plasticizers that flex PVC in cables, flooring and film
• Coatings and adhesives: reactive diluent and coalescing solvent controlling viscosity and film formation
• Lubricants and metalworking fluids: component of ester-based base stocks and additive packages
• Oil and gas: carrier solvent in chemical injection systems and feedstock for oilfield surfactant synthesis
• Its branched structure makes it a feedstock for plasticizers, surfactants and lubricant additives.
