Isotridecanol
Description
Isotridecanol (CAS 27458-92-0), also known as isotridecyl alcohol, is a branched-chain fatty alcohol used as a functional base in surfactant synthesis, plasticizer production, and specialty formulation work.
It acts as a building block for ethoxylated nonionic surfactants and as a carrier or co-solvent in industrial formulations where controlled solvency and low volatility are required for the process.
In personal care and cosmetics, it serves as an emollient carrier and solvent base in formulating skin creams, hair products, and color cosmetics. Textile and leather processors use it as a lubricant.
It is a softening agent in fiber finishing baths and leather fatliquoring compounds. In plastics and polymer manufacturing, it functions as a plasticizer intermediate and processing aid that improves flexibility.
Metalworking and lubricant formulators incorporate it into cutting fluids and rolling oils where its lubricity and compatibility with mineral oil systems reduce friction and tool wear during manufacturing.
Isotridecanol is supplied as a clear liquid, typically in drum and IBC quantities for industrial buyers. Technical grade is the standard commercial offering for most industrial applications.
Purity specifications commonly range from 99% and above to ensure consistent performance. Bulk tank delivery is available from major producers for high-volume procurement and large scale operations.
