Ethoxylated isodecanol
Description
Ethoxylated isodecanol (CAS 61827-42-7), also supplied under designations such as XP 70, Walloxen ID 110, and Trycol LF 1, is a nonionic surfactant derived from isodecanol and ethylene oxide.
Approved as E1003, it functions as a low-foaming wetting agent, emulsifier, and dispersant across industrial and personal care applications. In textile and leather processing, it improves dye bath penetration.
It ensures uniform substrate wetting during scouring and finishing operations. Agricultural formulations rely on it as an emulsifier and carrier in herbicide and pesticide concentrates for better efficacy.
Consistent droplet spread across leaf surfaces directly affects performance. Pulp and paper manufacturers use it to control foam and improve surface sizing uniformity during sheet formation processes.
In personal care, it acts as a solubilizer and emulsion stabilizer in rinse-off and leave-on formulations where low-foam performance is a processing requirement for high-quality manufacturing.
Ethoxylated isodecanol is supplied as a liquid, with ethoxylation degree varying across grades to tune HLB value for specific formulation needs. Technical and industrial grades are the primary forms.
Food-contact and cosmetic-compliant grades are available where regulatory status is relevant to submissions. The material maintains stability across a wide range of temperatures and pH levels.
