1,4-Butanediol dimethacrylate (CAS 2082-81-7), commonly abbreviated as BDDMA, is a bifunctional methacrylate monomer used as a crosslinking agent in polymer and coating systems.

Where is 1,4-Butanediol dimethacrylate used?

• UV- and peroxide-cured coatings: increases crosslink density, giving harder, more chemically resistant films on wood, metal, and plastic
• Adhesives and sealants: tunes cohesive strength and flexibility in structural systems
• Plastics and polymer manufacturing: crosslinker in suspension polymerization for beads and resins with controlled swelling behaviour, a critical parameter for ion-exchange media
• Personal care: builds film-forming polymer networks in nail gels and colour cosmetics
• By linking polymer chains at two reactive sites it controls network density, hardness, and solvent resistance in cured materials.
