Ammonium lauryl sulfate
Description
Ammonium lauryl sulfate (CAS 2235-54-3), commonly abbreviated as ALS, is an anionic surfactant used across personal care and industrial formulations. It delivers strong foaming, emulsification, and cleansing performance at competitive cost. Formulators select it as an alternative to sodium lauryl sulfate where lower pH sensitivity or specific viscosity profiles are required. In personal care, ALS is the primary active in shampoos, body washes, and liquid hand soaps.
It generates dense, stable foam and removes oils and residues effectively. Industrial cleaning formulations use it as a degreasing base in hard-surface cleaners and equipment wash products for professional maintenance. Coating and printing applications rely on ALS as a dispersing and wetting agent to stabilize pigment suspensions and improve substrate adhesion. This ensures consistent application across various industrial surfaces.
Adhesive and sealant manufacturers incorporate it during emulsion polymerization to control particle size and stabilize latex systems. This chemical is supplied as an aqueous solution, most commonly at 28–30% active content. Higher-concentration grades are available for specific industrial applications. Standard grades include cosmetic and personal care quality meeting relevant purity benchmarks, as well as technical grade for industrial use.
Packaging ranges from drums and IBCs to bulk tanker delivery for high-volume buyers. Our supply chain ensures that all batches meet rigorous quality control standards for consistency and performance in every application.
