Ammonium coco-sulfate
Description
Ammonium coco-sulfate (CAS 90989-98-3), also known commercially as coconut oil sulfated ammonium salt, is an anionic surfactant derived from coconut oil fatty acids. It functions as a primary cleansing and foaming agent across personal care and cleaning formulations.
In shampoos and body washes, it delivers high-foam lather and effective sebum removal, making it a preferred alternative to sulfate systems where a coconut-derived positioning is desired.
Liquid hand soaps and facial cleansers use it to balance cleansing efficacy with mildness at typical use concentrations. In household and industrial cleaning products, it contributes to grease emulsification and soil suspension.
Its compatibility with other anionic and amphoteric surfactants also supports its use in co-surfactant blends for customized foam and viscosity profiles in hard surface cleaners and dishwashing liquids.
Ammonium coco-sulfate is typically supplied as an aqueous liquid or paste, with active matter content commonly ranging around 30–40%. It is available in cosmetic-grade specifications suitable for personal care formulations.
Technical grades are also available for industrial cleaning applications. Bulk supply is standard in drums and IBCs, with documentation supporting COSMOS or natural-origin certification pathways for applicable formulations.
