Dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (CAS 27176-87-0), commonly known as DDBSA or laurylbenzenesulfonic acid, is a high-performance anionic surfactant and acid catalyst used across cleaning, agricultural, and industrial processing applications.

It functions primarily as a surfactant precursor, emulsifier, and pH-active ingredient in formulated products. In household and industrial cleaning formulations, it is neutralized on-site to produce linear alkylbenzene sulfonate.

This derivative serves as the active detergent component in liquid dish soaps, hard surface cleaners, and degreasers. Agricultural formulations use it as an emulsifier and dispersant in pesticide and herbicide concentrates.
