Sodium p-dodecylbenzenesulfonate
Description
Sodium p-dodecylbenzenesulfonate (CAS 2211-98-5), also marketed as SULFONAX, is an anionic surfactant used across industrial and institutional cleaning, emulsification, and dispersion applications.
It delivers reliable foam generation, soil removal, and surface-active performance in both aqueous and formulated systems. In industrial and institutional cleaning formulations, it functions as the primary detergent active.
This chemical enables effective degreasing of hard surfaces, equipment, and process lines. Textile wet processing relies on it for wetting, scouring, and dye bath emulsification to improve fiber penetration.
It also improves dye uptake uniformity across various fabric types. Water treatment operations use it as a dispersant and emulsifier to condition process water and control surface tension in treatment chemical blends.
In printing and packaging, it supports ink emulsification and press wash formulations where consistent foam behavior and substrate wetting are critical. The material is supplied as a powder, paste, or aqueous solution.
Active content typically ranges from 30% to 90% depending on grade and application. Technical grade is the standard offering for industrial cleaning and process applications where high performance is required.
Personal care and cosmetic-grade material is available where formulation purity requirements demand tighter quality specifications. This ensures compatibility with sensitive applications and adherence to safety protocols.
