Tetra-(methylethylketoxime)silane
Description
Tetra-(methylethylketoxime)silane (CAS 34206-40-1), commonly referred to in the silicone industry as TMEKS or ketoxime silane, is a tetrafunctional silane crosslinker used to cure silicone-based systems at room temperature. It functions as the reactive core component in oxime-cure silicone formulations, releasing butanone oxime upon moisture exposure to initiate network formation. Its primary use is as a crosslinker in one-component room-temperature vulcanizing silicone sealants.
In these systems, it governs cure speed, mechanical strength, and adhesion to substrates such as glass, metal, and plastics. In construction and glazing applications, it is incorporated into neutral-cure silicone sealants for curtain wall systems. It is also utilized for window sealing and sanitary joints. Silicone coating formulations for industrial and protective applications use it to build crosslink density and improve surface durability across various substrates.
The product is also used in silicone adhesive systems where controlled cure kinetics and compatibility with silicone polymer blends are required. This ensures high performance in demanding industrial environments and bonding applications. Tetra-(methylethylketoxime)silane is supplied as a clear liquid, typically in drums or IBC containers suited to moisture-sensitive handling requirements. Packaging under inert atmosphere is standard practice to preserve reactivity.
The material is available in Technical grade, which is the standard commercial offering. Purity specifications are commonly at 97% or higher to ensure consistent performance during the chemical formulation process.
