Polydecene

Polydecene (CAS 37309-58-3), also referred to commercially as decene homopolymer, is a synthetic hydrocarbon polymer used as a base fluid and viscosity modifier in lubricant formulations.

Where is Polydecene used?

• Automotive and industrial lubricant blending: base stock component in gear oils, compressor oils and engine oil formulations
• Metalworking fluids: cutting and forming lubricants where film strength and oxidative stability affect tool life and surface finish
• Oil and gas: drilling fluid additives and downhole lubricants where synthetic hydrocarbon base fluids outperform mineral oil under high-pressure conditions
• Grease formulations: rheology modifiers that control consistency and flow behaviour
