Pigment red 2
Description
Pigment Red 2 (CAS 6041-94-7), also identified commercially as C.I. 12310, is a monoazo organic pigment delivering a strong, opaque red shade across a range of industrial coloring applications.
It is valued in manufacturing for its color strength, heat stability, and compatibility with common polymer and resin systems. In plastics processing, it is used to color rigid PVC and polyolefins.
Engineering polymers require consistent hue and thermal resistance during compounding, which this pigment provides. Solvent-based and water-based coatings for industrial finishes incorporate it to achieve deep red tones.
These coatings benefit from good hiding power and reliable dispersion. Printing inks, particularly for packaging, labels, and publication applications, rely on it for sharp color reproduction and press stability.
In textile and paper coloring, it is applied in pigment printing pastes and surface coating formulations. These applications require bleed resistance and lightfastness to meet specific production requirements.
The product is supplied as a dry powder, typically in both crude and finished forms suited to different dispersion processes. Standard grades include general industrial and high-strength variants.
Particle size and surface treatment are tailored for ink, coating, or plastic end uses. Packaging is commonly available in fiber drums or multi-wall bags for bulk procurement and industrial storage.
