Polyoxyethylene tridecyl ether phosphate
Description
Polyoxyethylene tridecyl ether phosphate (CAS 9046-01-9), sold commercially as Tryfac 610A, Stepfac 8181, and Stepfac 8180, is an anionic phosphate ester surfactant derived from ethoxylated tridecyl alcohol.
It functions as an emulsifier, dispersant, and detergent across industrial and formulated product applications. In personal care, it is used in cleansing formulations where mild yet effective performance is required.
The product offers good skin compatibility alongside degreasing capabilities. Textile processors use it as a scouring and wetting agent to remove oils, sizing agents, and contaminants from fiber and fabric during preparation.
In agricultural formulations, it acts as an emulsifier and dispersant in herbicide and pesticide concentrates. This improves active ingredient distribution and ensures better tank-mix stability for farmers.
Leather and paper processing operations use it to degrease hides and improve surface treatment penetration. It is typically supplied as a liquid or viscous paste, depending on the degree of ethoxylation.
The acid or salt form of the chemical determines its specific physical properties. Technical grade is the standard offering for industrial applications, with concentration levels varying by specific grade.
Packaging commonly includes drums and IBCs suited to bulk industrial procurement. This ensures safe handling and efficient transport for large-scale manufacturing and chemical processing facilities.
