Hydrotalcite (CAS 11097-59-9), also known as magnesium aluminum hydroxycarbonate, is a synthetic layered double hydroxide mineral.

Where is Hydrotalcite used?

• PVC and polyolefin compounding: acid scavenger and thermal stabilizer, neutralizing chloride byproducts that degrade polymer or corrode equipment
• Rubber: heat stability and extended service life in high-temperature vulcanization
• Water treatment: sequesters heavy metal ions and phosphates
• Pharmaceuticals: antacid active ingredient in solid oral dosage forms
