Description

Ferric ferrous oxide (CAS 1317-61-9), also known as Iron(II,III) oxide and commercially as E172, is a mixed-valence iron oxide used across pigment, catalyst, and surface protection applications.

Its magnetic properties and chemical stability make it a reliable functional ingredient in both industrial and regulated end-use markets. In pigment manufacturing, it delivers a black colorant for concrete and coatings.

Construction materials utilize this oxide where consistent color performance and UV stability are required. Electronics producers use it as a core material in magnetic recording media and ferrite components.

It is also utilized in electromagnetic shielding applications. In catalysis, it functions as an active phase or support material in chemical synthesis and gas treatment processes, including hydrogen production.

Corrosion-inhibiting primers and protective coatings for automotive and structural steel applications incorporate it to extend substrate service life. It is supplied as a fine black powder in various grades.

Food-grade material is available under the E172 designation, meeting specifications for use as a colorant in regulated applications. Technical and pigment grades are also offered for industrial use.

Particle size and surface area specifications vary by end-use requirement. Our material ensures high purity and consistency for demanding manufacturing environments and specialized chemical formulations.
