Description

Magnesium sulphate monohydrate (CAS 14567-64-7), commercially known as Kieserite, is an inorganic magnesium salt used across agriculture and industrial processing. It delivers a concentrated, slow-releasing source of both magnesium and sulphur to crops. This chemical is essential for industrial systems where precise nutrient or ion dosing is required. In agriculture, Kieserite is applied directly to soil or blended into compound fertilizers to correct magnesium and sulphur deficiencies.

It is commonly used for cereals, oilseed rape, sugar beet, and grassland. Its lower water content compared to heptahydrate grades makes it preferred for dry fertilizer blending where moisture-stable granules are critical. These stable granules are essential to product shelf life and handling during transport. In water treatment, it functions as a source of magnesium ions for pH buffering and supports coagulation and flocculation processes.

It is utilized in both municipal and industrial effluent systems for effective treatment. Feed-grade applications also exist, where it supplements magnesium in compound animal feeds for livestock nutrition programs. Magnesium sulphate monohydrate is supplied as granules or powder, with granular Kieserite being the dominant commercial form. Standard grades include technical, feed-grade, and fertilizer-grade specifications.

Specifications are typically aligned to minimum MgO and SO₃ content requirements for quality control. Bulk supply in big bags or loose bulk is standard for agricultural procurement volumes and large scale industrial use.
