Description

2-Ethylhexyl glycidyl ether (CAS 2461-15-6), commonly abbreviated as EHGE, is a reactive monofunctional epoxy diluent used to modify the viscosity and flexibility of epoxy resin systems.

It reduces formulation viscosity without sacrificing cure performance, making it a practical processing aid for formulators working with high-solids or solvent-free systems.

In industrial coatings and flooring systems, EHGE lowers epoxy resin viscosity to improve substrate wetting and application at ambient temperatures for better surface coverage.

Adhesive and sealant manufacturers incorporate it as a reactive flexibilizer, where it participates in the cure network to reduce brittleness in structural bonds and joints.

Automotive and industrial coating formulators use it in solvent-free primer and topcoat systems to achieve low-VOC compliance while maintaining a workable pot life during application.

In epoxy-based inks for printing and packaging, it functions as a reactive carrier that improves pigment dispersion and film flexibility across various industrial substrates.

EHGE is supplied as a clear liquid in standard drum and IBC quantities. It is available in technical grade, which is the primary commercial specification for industrial epoxy formulation.

Purity grades typically range from 95% to 99%, with low hydrolyzable chloride content specifications available for electronics and high-performance coating applications.
