Behenyl betaine
Description
Behenyl betaine (CAS 26920-62-7) is a zwitterionic surfactant derived from behenic acid, offering a longer carbon chain than conventional betaines such as cocamidopropyl betaine.
This extended chain profile makes it particularly effective in conditioning and foam-modifying applications across personal care and cleaning formulations. In hair care, it functions as a conditioning co-surfactant.
It improves wet combability and reduces static while contributing mild cleansing in shampoos and conditioners. Skin cleansing products incorporate it to moderate foam texture and reduce the harshness of anionic systems.
Facial washes and body bars benefit from its mildness. In home care formulations such as fabric softeners and rinse aids, it supports emulsification of actives and improves deposition on treated surfaces.
Industrial and institutional cleaning concentrates use it to stabilize foam profiles and boost degreasing performance across a range of pH conditions. It is a versatile component for high-performance cleaners.
Behenyl betaine is commercially supplied as an aqueous solution, typically at around 40% active content. It is available in technical and cosmetic grades suited to both personal care and industrial cleaning end uses.
