Bismuth neodecanoate
Description
Bismuth neodecanoate (CAS 34364-26-6) is an organobismuth compound used as a metal catalyst in polyurethane and polymer curing systems. It offers a non-tin, non-mercury pathway for catalyzing urethane reactions.
This chemical addresses increasingly strict regulatory requirements around heavy metal content in finished products. In polyurethane foam, elastomer, and coating formulations, it catalyzes the isocyanate-hydroxyl reaction.
This enables gel and cure without organotin compounds such as DBTDL. Sealant and adhesive manufacturers use it to achieve controlled open times and through-cure in one- and two-component systems.
In industrial coatings, it supports crosslinking of polyurethane and alkyd systems while meeting VOC and heavy metal compliance targets. This is essential for architectural and automotive end markets.
Lubricant and metalworking formulators also evaluate it as a bismuth-based EP additive precursor and functional component. It is supplied as a liquid, typically in solution form with varying bismuth metal content.
The product is available in technical grade, with specifications defined by bismuth assay and viscosity parameters relevant to catalyst dosing. Packaging ranges from drums to IBC containers suited to industrial volumes.
