Resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate)
Description
Resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate) (CAS 57583-54-7) is a halogen-free organophosphate flame retardant used across engineering plastics and polymer blends. It combines flame suppression with plasticizing action.
This allows formulators to meet fire safety standards without sacrificing processability or mechanical performance. In PC/ABS blends, RDP enables UL 94 V-0 ratings at relatively low loading levels.
This makes it the retardant of choice for housings in consumer electronics, IT equipment, and office devices. Automotive interior components benefit from its low volatility and thermal stability.
These properties support compliance with vehicle flammability requirements. Aerospace and defense applications use RDP in structural polymer composites where halogen-free certification is a requirement.
It also functions as a reactive plasticizer in flexible polyurethane and epoxy systems. This improves flow during processing while contributing to the fire performance of the cured part.
Resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate) is supplied as a viscous liquid at ambient temperature. Technical-grade material is the standard commercial form for most industrial applications.
Purity specifications for this chemical are typically at 97% or higher. Bulk liquid supply in drums and IBC containers is the norm for industrial procurement and large-scale manufacturing.
