Magnesium laureth sulfate

Magnesium laureth sulfate (CAS 62755-21-9) is an ethoxylated sulfate surfactant for personal care and cleaning formulations. Also marketed as Empicol EGB, Empicol EGC and Zoharpon MGES.

Where is Magnesium laureth sulfate used?

• Shampoos, shower gels and liquid hand soaps: dense, stable lather, milder on skin than sodium lauryl sulfate
• Baby care and sensitive-skin products: lower irritation profile
• Household and industrial cleaning concentrates: soil removal and emulsification of oily residues on hard surfaces
• High-active liquid detergent bases: compatibility with amphoteric and nonionic co-surfactants
• It acts as a primary or co-surfactant, providing foaming, detergency and emulsification.

Good to know: Milder on skin than conventional sodium lauryl sulfate. Both food-contact-safe and cosmetic-grade material is available, with conformance to relevant regional cosmetic ingredient standards.
