Pigment violet 23
Description
Pigment Violet 23 (CAS 6358-30-1), also known as PV23 and Permanent Violet RL, is a high-performance dioxazine organic pigment delivering intense reddish-violet to blue-violet shades across a broad range of industrial colorant systems.
Its exceptional tinting strength and heat stability make it a benchmark violet pigment for demanding manufacturing applications. In coatings and industrial paints, PV23 is used to achieve deep violet tones and as a bluing agent.
It is frequently utilized to neutralize yellowish casts in white and light-colored formulations. Plastic compounders incorporate it into polyolefins, PVC, and engineering resins where resistance to processing temperatures is a critical requirement.
Resistance to migration is another essential specification for these plastic applications. Printing ink manufacturers rely on it for packaging gravure, flexographic, and offset inks where color consistency is commercially essential.
Textile and paper dyeing operations use PV23 dispersions to produce violet shades with strong lightfastness performance. Pigment Violet 23 is supplied as a dry powder or as predispersed press cake and liquid dispersions.
These formats are tailored for specific carrier systems to ensure optimal integration. Standard commercial grades are differentiated by particle size and surface treatment to optimize performance in waterborne or solventborne systems.
It is also highly effective in UV-curable systems for modern printing and coating technologies. Grades conforming to C.I. 51319 specifications are available for both general industrial and high-performance colorant applications.
