Didecylmethylamine
Description
Didecylmethylamine (CAS 7396-58-9), sold commercially as Radiamine 6310, is a tertiary fatty amine used as a chemical intermediate and functional additive across industrial formulation. It serves primarily as a building block for quaternary ammonium compounds.
The product acts as a direct-acting surfactant in cleaning, lubrication, and surface treatment applications. In home care and industrial cleaning formulations, it is quaternized to produce biocidal quats used in disinfectants.
These quats are essential for hard surface cleaners and sanitizing concentrates. Metalworking fluid formulators use it as a corrosion inhibitor and emulsifier, where it helps stabilize oil-in-water systems effectively.
The chemical protects ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces during machining processes. In textile and leather processing, it functions as a softening and surface-modification agent, improving substrate feel and water interaction.
It is also utilized during finishing stages to enhance material properties. Paper industry applications include its use as a dispersant and wet-strength additive precursor, ensuring high performance in manufacturing.
Didecylmethylamine is supplied as a liquid at ambient temperature for easy handling. It is available in technical grade, which is the standard specification for industrial and formulation use across various sectors.
Bulk supply is typical in drums and intermediate bulk containers (IBCs). Tanker quantities are also available for larger procurement volumes to meet the demands of high-capacity industrial manufacturing facilities.
