Octylphenol ethoxylate
Description
Octylphenol ethoxylate (CAS 9002-93-1), commercially recognized as Triton X-100, is a nonionic surfactant used across industrial and institutional formulations. It delivers emulsification, wetting, and detergency performance in demanding cleaning and dispersion applications.
In industrial and institutional cleaning, it functions as the primary surfactant in hard surface cleaners, degreasers, and metal cleaning formulations where oil and grease removal is critical.
Textile processors use it as a wetting and scouring agent to ensure uniform dye penetration and fiber preparation. In agriculture, it acts as an emulsifier and spreading agent in pesticide and herbicide concentrate formulations.
This surfactant improves active ingredient distribution on leaf surfaces. Coatings and adhesive manufacturers incorporate it to stabilize emulsion systems and control substrate wetting during application.
Octylphenol ethoxylate is supplied as a liquid or viscous paste, depending on the ethoxylation degree. Standard commercial grades are available in technical quality for various industrial requirements.
Ethylene oxide content is typically expressed as the number of EO units. Triton X-100 corresponds to approximately 9–10 EO units. Drum and IBC packaging are standard supply formats for industrial buyers.
