Description

Fatty acids, C12-18 and C18-unsaturated, reaction products with triethanolamine (CAS 91001-85-3) are mixed triethanolamine soaps produced by neutralizing a blend of lauric-to-stearic and oleic-type fatty acids.

The resulting anionic/nonionic surfactant system delivers emulsification, lubrication, and corrosion inhibition across multiple industrial sectors. In metalworking fluids and cutting oils, these reaction products function as both emulsifiers and corrosion inhibitors.

They keep metal surfaces protected while maintaining stable oil-in-water emulsions under process conditions. Textile and leather processing operations use them as softening and lubricating agents applied during fiber finishing, scouring, and hide treatment.

In coatings and adhesive formulations, they stabilize pigment dispersions and improve substrate wetting. Personal care manufacturers incorporate them into creams and lotions as emulsifying agents, particularly where a mild, soap-based system is preferred.

This product is typically supplied as a viscous liquid or paste, with appearance and consistency varying by fatty acid composition and degree of neutralization. Technical grade is the standard commercial offering for industrial uses.

Concentration and acid value specifications are commonly aligned to the intended application. Metalworking and textile grades sometimes differ in free amine content and pH profile to meet specific performance requirements in the field.
