Description

Triethanolamine (CAS 102-71-6), commonly abbreviated as TEA, is an amino alcohol used across industrial and personal care manufacturing as a pH adjuster, emulsifier, and neutralizing agent.

Its dual amine-alcohol functionality makes it effective at stabilizing formulations and activating crosslinking reactions in coating systems. In coatings and adhesives, TEA acts as a curing accelerator.

It serves as a crosslinker in epoxy and polyurethane systems, improving adhesion and film integrity. Personal care manufacturers use it to neutralize carbomer and acrylate polymers for stable gels.

It is frequently used in lotions, sunscreens, and hair products. Pharmaceutical formulators rely on TEA to adjust pH in topical preparations, ensuring API stability and skin compatibility in ointments.

In metalworking and industrial cleaning fluids, it functions as a corrosion inhibitor and emulsifying agent, extending fluid service life. This versatility makes it a staple in chemical manufacturing.

Triethanolamine is supplied as a clear, viscous liquid, typically in concentrations of 85% and 99%. Standard commercial grades include technical, USP, and BP quality standards.

Food-contact and cosmetic-grade material is available for regulated applications. Bulk supply is available in drums and IBC totes, with tank truck quantities offered for high-volume industrial buyers.
