Description

C12-18 Carboxylic Acids (CAS 67701-01-3), also marketed as Fatty Acids C12-18, are a mid-chain fatty acid blend derived from vegetable oils including coconut. Across multiple industries, they function as emulsifiers, lubricants, and surface-active agents.

In personal care, they are used to build bar soap structure, condition skin creams, and control emulsion texture in lotions and cleansers. These acids provide essential stability and consistency to various cosmetic formulations.

Coatings and adhesives formulators incorporate them as surface modifiers to improve substrate wetting and pigment dispersion. They are effective in both solvent-based and water-based systems for industrial applications.

In rubber compounding and tire manufacturing, they act as processing aids and internal lubricants. These components reduce friction between polymer chains during the intensive mixing and extrusion processes.

Metalworking fluid formulators use them as base components for cutting oils and corrosion-inhibiting lubricants. They are applied to both ferrous and non-ferrous metals to ensure protection and performance.

C12-18 Carboxylic Acids are supplied as a pale yellow to amber liquid or semi-solid, depending on composition. Technical grade is the standard commercial form for most industrial applications.

Cosmetic-grade material meeting relevant purity specifications is available for personal care use. Bulk supply is typically managed in drums and ISO tanks to meet the high-volume needs of global manufacturers.
