Palm fatty acids

CAS
68440-15-3

Description

Palm fatty acids (CAS 68440-15-3), also sold under the trade name Hardesty 1465, are a mixture of saturated and unsaturated C16–C18 fatty acids derived from palm oil refining.

They function as emulsifiers, lubricants, and surface-active agents across a broad range of industrial and consumer product manufacturing. In personal care and home care formulations, they are used to build bar soap structure.

These acids control lather quality through saponification with alkali. Coatings and adhesives manufacturers use them as slip agents and surface modifiers to improve substrate wetting and film adhesion during the production process.

In industrial cleaning products, they serve as feedstocks for soap-based surfactant systems targeting hard-surface and textile applications. Food-grade fractions are used in bakery and confectionery processing as release agents.

Palm fatty acids are supplied as a pale yellow to off-white solid or liquid depending on temperature, typically in flake, pastille, or bulk liquid form. Standard commercial grades include technical and cosmetic-grade.

Specifications for these materials are aligned to FCC and industry purity standards. Packaging options commonly include drums, IBCs, and bulk tanker for high-volume industrial buyers requiring consistent supply chains.
