Description

C12-18 Alcohols (CAS 67762-25-8), also supplied under trade names such as Alfol 1218 and Lorol, are a blend of saturated fatty alcohols derived from natural or synthetic feedstocks.

In formulation and industrial manufacturing, they function as emulsifiers, emollients, and rheology modifiers across a broad range of finished products. In personal care, they are used to stabilize oil-in-water emulsions.

These alcohols are found in lotions, creams, and conditioners, contributing body and texture to the finished formula. Household and industrial cleaning products use them as co-emulsifiers and foam stabilizers.

They are frequently utilized in liquid detergents and fabric softeners. In lubricant manufacturing, they serve as intermediates for producing ester-based lubricants and metalworking fluids where controlled viscosity is required.

They are also used in the production of ethoxylated alcohol surfactants, making them a key petrochemical and oleochemical processing input. C12-18 Alcohols are typically supplied as white to off-white waxy flakes.

Pellets are also common, with liquid form available at elevated temperatures. Standard grades include technical and cosmetic quality, with the latter meeting specifications relevant to personal care manufacturing.

Both natural (palm- or coconut-derived) and synthetic (Ziegler process) origins are available. This is a relevant sourcing consideration for buyers with specific sustainability or certification requirements.
