Description

C12-13 Alcohols (CAS 75782-86-4), commercially available as Oxocol 1213 and Neodol 23, are a narrow-cut blend of synthetic fatty alcohols derived from oxo synthesis. They function primarily as intermediates for ethoxylation and sulfation.

These processes produce nonionic and anionic surfactants used across cleaning, personal care, and industrial formulations. In home care and industrial cleaning, these alcohols are ethoxylated to produce alcohol ethoxylates.

These derivatives serve as the primary surfactant in laundry detergents, hard surface cleaners, and degreasers. Personal care formulators use ethoxylated and sulfated derivatives as foam boosters and emulsifiers in shampoos.

They are also utilized in body washes and liquid soaps. In metalworking fluids, they contribute to emulsification of oil-water systems, improving lubricity and coolant stability in machining operations.

They also function as wetting agents and emulsifiers in agricultural formulations and industrial process chemicals. These alcohols are supplied as a clear to slightly hazy liquid, typically in bulk tankers, IBCs, and drums.

Technical grade is the standard commercial specification for surfactant and industrial applications. Buyers should confirm chain length distribution and oxo-derived purity when qualifying for ethoxylation processes.
