Description

Diethylene glycol monophenyl ether (CAS 104-68-7), also known commercially as Phenyl Carbitol, is a slow-evaporating glycol ether solvent used across coatings, cosmetics, and printing applications.

Its low volatility and strong solvency for resins and pigments make it a preferred carrier where controlled drying and film formation are critical procurement considerations for industrial manufacturers.

In printing inks, it functions as a high-boiling solvent and rheology modifier, improving flow and reducing premature drying on press. Coatings formulators incorporate it to extend open time in systems.

This is particularly useful where resin compatibility and leveling performance are priorities. In personal care, it acts as a solvent and carrier in fragrance formulations, emollients, and skin-conditioning products.

It is highly valued where a low-odor, slow-release profile is required. Adhesive and sealant manufacturers use it to adjust viscosity and improve substrate wetting in various solvent-borne systems.

The chemical is supplied as a clear liquid in drum and IBC quantities, with bulk tanker options available for high-volume buyers. It is typically offered in technical grade for industrial use.

Purity specifications are commonly at 99% or above. Buyers should confirm purity, water content, and color (APHA) against their formulation requirements when evaluating specific supplier lots for production.
