Stearamide
Description
Stearamide (CAS 124-26-5), also sold under trade names Kemamide S and Adogen 42, is the amide derivative of stearic acid used as a slip agent, lubricant, and surface modifier across plastics, personal care, and industrial processing.
It reduces surface friction and controls interfilm adhesion without altering bulk material properties. In plastics and polymer film production, it functions as an internal and external slip agent, migrating to the film surface.
This migration reduces the coefficient of friction in polyethylene and polypropylene packaging. Textile and leather finishing operations use it as a softening and lubricating additive to improve hand feel and reduce fiber-on-fiber abrasion.
In metalworking and industrial lubricants, it acts as a solid lubricant component and release agent in drawing compounds and stamping formulations. This versatility makes it essential for high-performance manufacturing environments.
Personal care manufacturers incorporate it into stick formulations, creams, and waxes where controlled texture and emollient structuring are required. It provides stability and consistency to various cosmetic and topical applications.
Stearamide is supplied as a white to off-white powder or flake, with particle size and melt point specifications varying by grade. Technical and industrial grades are standard for plastics and lubricant applications.
Cosmetic-grade material meeting purity requirements for personal care use is available from select suppliers. We ensure all batches meet rigorous internal quality controls to guarantee performance and consistency for our global clients.
