Description

Oleamide (CAS 301-02-0), also known as oleic acid amide, is a fatty acid amide derived from oleic acid used primarily as a slip agent and surface modifier across plastics and personal care.

It reduces surface friction in polymer films and acts as an emulsifier and dispersing agent in formulations where controlled surface activity is required for high-performance industrial applications.

In plastics processing, this material migrates to the surface of polyethylene and polypropylene films to reduce coefficient of friction, improving high-speed packaging line performance and efficiency.

Personal care formulators incorporate it as an emollient and emulsifier in creams, conditioners, and lip products where smooth skin feel and stable dispersion are priorities for the consumer.

In food-contact materials, it is approved for use as an internal lubricant and slip additive in films and coatings that come into direct contact with food products during the shipping process.

It also functions as a dispersing agent in wax blends and release formulations used in industrial processing. The product is supplied as a white to off-white powder or flake for easy handling.

Food-contact and technical grades are the most commonly available, with specifications aligned to FDA 21 CFR and EU food-contact regulations for polymer applications and safety standards.

Purity levels typically range from 95% to 99%, with higher-purity grades sourced for personal care and food-adjacent end uses to ensure the highest quality and performance in the final product.
