Description

Octyldodecyl oleate (CAS 22801-45-2) is a branched-chain ester derived from oleic acid, used across personal care, lubricant, and industrial formulations as an emollient, plasticizer, and lubricating agent.

Its low-viscosity, non-greasy profile makes it a preferred alternative to heavier oils where skin feel or processing performance is a deciding factor in the final product formulation.

In cosmetics, it functions as an emollient and carrier in skin creams, foundations, lip products, and sunscreens, delivering a lightweight, spreadable texture without any occlusive residue.

Industrial lubricant formulators incorporate it to improve slip and reduce friction in metalworking fluids and release agents. In coatings and adhesive systems, it acts as a plasticizer and softener.

This chemical improves flexibility and substrate adhesion in finished films. Polymer processors also use it as a processing aid and internal lubricant to reduce melt viscosity and improve surface finish.

Octyldodecyl oleate is supplied as a clear, pale liquid in drum and IBC quantities suited to both cosmetic and industrial-scale production. Cosmetic-grade material is available meeting standard purity requirements.

Technical-grade options are available for lubricant and polymer end uses. Suppliers typically offer material with documented ester content and acid value specifications to support QA qualification.
