Description

Strontium peroxide (CAS 1314-18-7), also referred to as strontium dioxide, is an inorganic oxidizing salt that releases active oxygen upon contact with moisture or acidic conditions.

This controlled oxygen release makes it commercially valuable as a bleaching agent and biocide across several industrial processing sectors. In textile and paper manufacturing, it functions as a bleaching agent.

It is used for fiber and pulp treatments where a controlled, sustained oxidation profile is required. Water treatment operations use it to deliver slow-release oxygen for biocidal action against microbial contamination.

This application is critical in process water and effluent systems. Leather processing incorporates it into hide treatment stages to achieve uniform whitening without the aggressive degradation of stronger oxidants.

In personal care formulations, it appears in hair bleaching and tooth-whitening product development as an active oxygen source. Strontium peroxide is supplied as a white to off-white powder.

Technical grade is the standard commercial form, with active oxygen content and purity specifications typically confirmed by certificate of analysis. Packaging is available in moisture-resistant containers.

This specialized packaging is necessary given the product's reactivity with water under storage conditions. It remains a stable and reliable source of oxygen for diverse industrial and chemical applications.
