Description

Silicic acid (CAS 1343-98-2), also known as orthosilicic acid or monosilicic acid, is the soluble monomeric form of silicon that serves as the bioavailable silicon source in aqueous systems.

It functions as a stabilizer, rheology modifier, and foam control agent across water treatment, food, pharmaceutical, and personal care applications. In water treatment, it is dosed into distribution systems.

This process forms protective silicate films on pipe surfaces, reducing corrosion and scale deposition. Food and supplement manufacturers use it as a bioavailable silicon source in functional beverages.

These nutritional formulations target bone and connective tissue support. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it acts as a stabilizing agent in liquid formulations where controlled silica chemistry is required.

This prevents active ingredient degradation. Personal care formulators incorporate it into skin-conditioning products and hair treatments where soluble silicon is preferred over particulate silica.

The material is supplied primarily as aqueous solution, with concentration and stabilization varying by application. Technical-grade and food-grade specifications are the most commonly sourced.

Food-grade material is subject to purity requirements aligned with FCC standards. Pharmaceutical-grade supply is available for regulated manufacturing with documentation supporting USP compliance.

Additional documentation is available for Ph. Eur. requirements. This ensures the highest quality standards are met for sensitive industrial and medical applications across global markets.
